It's been a few years since our last "Building with Lime" Workshops, and since we stopped offering them, demand has grown to the point we can't ignore it any longer. So, back, by POPULAR demand, we are offering folks an opportunity to come on back to visit "The Farm" and learn, hands on, how to work with traditional lime mortars for the preservation of historic masonry. Our normal three day all inclusive workshops have been broken down to intensive two day subject specific events. We are expanding all of our educational opportunities this year, Jimmy and Jeff dance cards are pretty full already and they will be out speaking about how historic masonry structures were put together and offer insight into the various methods that can be employed to their preservation. But as nice as it is to see Jeff lecture on lime at Restore Virginia or at a Preservation Trades Workshop, there is nothing like taking the trip to Amherst County and work with the materials in live situations. Then there is the hospitality. Virginia Lime Works Workshops are renowned for the way that you become one of the family. If schedules (keep in mind that Jeff has kids!) allow, there is always the possibility for a bit of "Preservation After Dark" where we travel to a local restaurant, relax and enjoy each others company while talking about each others projects and journey through preservation. We hope your journey in preservation involves a stop to Virginia Lime Works this spring. You won't regret it. We try to limit our class size to 5-10 participants so that each person can feel free to bring their questions with you and discuss their concerns with us and with the other class members.
